Wheaton, Ill.—Craft beers often have memorable names, from Barrel-Aged Old Rasputin XIX to Pennsylvania Tuxedo, Face Smack, Tartastic, and Xocoveza, all of which will be at Arrowhead Golf Club’s (26W151 Butterfield Rd., Wheaton, Ill.) Straight from the Tap, January 28, 1:30-4P.

This premier VIP tasting experience will be memorable, too, as it welcomes limited edition, never-released, experimental, and rare craft beers from 14 breweries near and far to Arrowhead’s third-story ballroom for an afternoon of fun and flavor.

“What makes this event fun and unique is that we’ve gathered 14 mostly local—and some newer—breweries and asked them to leave their staples at home and instead bring some of the different things they’ve been playing around with at their brewery,” said Brian Whitkanack, Director of Restaurant and Banquet Operations.

Representatives from Two Brothers Brewing Co., Lagunitas Brewing Co., Firestone Brewery, North Coast Brewing Co., Dogfish Head, Revolution Brewery, New Belgium Brewery, Noon Whistle Brewing Co., Founders, 51st Ward, Goose Island, and Sam Adams will be on hand to pour their pints and discuss the finer points of fermentation with guests.

The flavors continue with a selection of hors d’oeuvres: brewery meat balls, coconut shrimp, spring rolls, cheese displays, pretzel bites, and a massive Mt. Nacho, all curated by Executive Chef Alan Pirhofer. Samples from Gilbert’s Craft Sausages will also be available.

While the day’s good for the taste buds, it’s good for the ears, too, with a performance by acoustic musician Eric Howell.

As they sip, socialize, and sample, guests can purchase entries for a 50/50 split-the-pot and raffle and silent auction items, including brewery tours and gear, a tasting for four at Cooper’s Hawk Winery & Restaurants, two tickets to Casino Royale at the DuPage County Historical Museum, shoes from Naperville Running Co., and more.

Raffle and silent auction proceeds benefit the Play For All Playground & Garden Foundation’s development of the Sensory Garden Playground (2751 Navistar Dr., Lisle, Ill.), an accessible facility dedicated to helping children of all abilities play side-by-side. VIP admission is $65 per person and includes private event access, 32 two-ounce samples, hors d’oeuvres, and live entertainment. Designated driver admission is $25 per person and includes everything but 32 two-ounce samples. Tickets are available at arrowheadgolfclub.org/beer.

Must be 21 and older to attend. Valid photo ID required on day of event. Fewer than 100 tickets currently available.

Arrowhead Restaurant & Bar also offers an extensive menu of craft beers year-round, like Noon Whistle Cozmo, Two Brothers Domaine DuPage, Firestone Walker Double Jack, and more. Explore the menu at arrowheadgolfclub.org.
