Green Team Tip: March 2018

March 2018: Surprising Ways to Reuse Dryer Sheets Because TV and PC screens are electrically charged, they attract dust. Wipe screens off with used softener sheets. They are made to reduce static cling so they remove dust and slow its return. Pet hair on fabric can really stick, but it can be wiped away with used softener sheets. If your dog comes in wet from the rain, remove the "doggy smell" with a good wipe down from used softener sheets.

The water that comes out of your faucet today could have been part of a glacier that carved the face of the earth years and years ago. Green Tip: June 2017

March 2018: Compost Like a Champ! Throw your vegetable waste into your compost instead of allowing it to be trucked off to the landfill! Known as "gardener's gold," compost enriches soil fertility by giving it a shot of high-powered, plant-loving nutrients. Aside from stimulating healthy root development, the addition of rich and earthy compost also improves soil texture, aeration, and water retention. Why waste your hard-earned cash on commercial products when the real deal is free for the taking? Speed up the process with the help of earthworms or go wriggle-free (if you're the squeamish sort). Learn more about green gardening on our composting and rain barrels page.
