Wheaton Lions Club 2022 Hunger Drive

September 20-October 4

The Wheaton Lions Club invites all our neighbors in the Wheaton and Carol Stream area to join us in the fight against local hunger. The Wheaton Lions Club is partnering with area businesses to collect non-perishable food beginning Tuesday, September 20th. People’s Resource Center’s (PRC) will be the beneficiary of all donations. This project is part of the Wheaton Lions “Focus on Hunger”, one of the six Lions’ primary “Pillars of Service” to serve our local communities.

Since 1975, People’s Resource Center (PRC) has been a steady resource to respond to hunger and poverty in DuPage County. In 2021 PRC distributed almost 40,000 shopping carts full of food to DuPage families. Food insecurity continues to be a challenge for many local families.
The current list of items in greatest demand includes:

  • Canned meat (tuna and chicken)
  • Canned food (vegetables, soup, pork and beans, legumes/beans, spaghetti sauce, fruit)
  • Rice and Pasta
  • Personal care items (shampoo, body wash toothpaste, toothbrushes, deodorant, bar soap, liquid hand soap)
  • Diapers*

NOTE: Perishable food and products past their expiration date cannot be accepted.

*PRC has more buying power in bulk lots. Cash gifts will be used by PRC to purchase diapers and household cleaning supplies as their inventory requires.

Please consider donating to the Wheaton LIONS Charities to provide PRC with diapers and cleaning supplies for distribution through the PRC Food Pantry.
