Superhero Fun Run is presented by Wheaton Park District and Rotary Club of Wheaton AM

Fun Run is back, but with a new theme – Superheroes!

Join us for this exciting 5K where all of your favorite Superheroes will descend on Wheaton to show their support for the Play for All Playground and Garden Foundation and Rotary Charities. This race is untimed is open to runners and walkers of all levels. Every superhero is welcome to participate, so throw on your Superman cape, Wonder Woman tiara, or Captain America shield and join us for this fantastic 5K!

After the run, stick around for music, character meet and greets and more fun!  Plus, all participants will receive a cape backpack and finisher medal. 

Have a Fantastic Four team? Save $4 on registration when registering 4 or more participants. In order to receive the discount, a team must be created and entered when registering. Team members do not have to register at the same time. After the 4th person registers, the other 3 team members will receive a $4 refund.

In Memoriam:

In Memory of Will Grosch
In the Fall of 2019, the Fun Run in Color committee lost founding member Will Grosch to his battle against ALS. Will was a Rotarian and Play for All Playground and Garden Foundation Board Member who was instrumental in bringing this race to Wheaton in 2013. His kindness and generosity to the Sensory Garden Playground and the Wheaton community will be missed.

Registration & Entry Fee:

Individual:  $35 through March 15; $40 from March 16-April 11; $45 from April 12-15

Race Wheaton Price: $120 – includes registration for Superhero Fun Run, Cosley Zoo Run for the Animals, Light the Torch Night Run and Reindeer Run

Online registration will be available until 8:15 AM on race day, April 15, 2023. Pre-registration is strongly encouraged as the race is subject to capacity limitations and may close at any time prior to this date.

Packet Pick-up:

Packet pick-up will be held on Thursday, April 13 from 10A-7P at the Wheaton Park District Community Center, located at 1777 S. Blanchard St., Wheaton.

Packets can also be picked up on race day morning, from 7:30-8:15A at Memorial Park, 225 Karlskoga Ave, Wheaton.

Event Details & Policies:

Spectators
Spectators are able to watch participants run at the start and finish lines and along the race route. Spectators may not enter or interfere with the race course.

Age Limit
Kids and adults of all ages are encouraged to participate in this fun run!

Strollers, Wheelchairs and Wheeled Vehicles
Strollers and wheelchairs are allowed but will be asked to line up in the last wave of the race start. Participant safety is of the utmost importance, therefore, bicycles, in-line skates, and other wheeled vehicles (except wheelchairs) are not allowed. Any person riding in a stroller must remain in the stroller for the duration of the race.

Pets
Pets are NOT permitted in this race. This is for the safety of your pet. Service animals must be approved by the race director 72 hours prior to race day.

Waiver
Every participant will be required to sign a waiver when registering online. For those under the age of 18, a parent or guardian must sign the waiver.

Inclement Weather
This race will happen rain or shine! The run committee monitors the weather and follows the proper protocol in place regarding inclement weather including but not limited to thunderstorms, tornadoes and heat. The run committee holds the right to cancel, alter, or postpone the event in the interest of runner, volunteer and staff safety. Registration is non-refundable.

What is the Superhero Fun Run?
Superhero Fun Run is an untimed run/walk open to all abilities and experiences, from the avid runner to families. Participants can run or walk the route and are encouraged to represent their favorite superhero. The race starts at approximately 8:30A.

Who does this race benefit?
The Rotary Club of Wheaton AM, in conjunction with the Wheaton Park District, is hosting the Superhero Fun Run 2023 to benefit local Rotary-supported charities and the Play for All Playground & Garden Foundation. A portion of the event proceeds will go toward creating Play for All at the Sensory Garden Playground in Lisle, IL.

Are there any Race Bundles?
Yes, the Race Wheaton race bundle is available through June 3. Challenge yourself to a 5K in each season of 2023. Start off with the Superhero Fun Run in April, tackle the Cosley Zoo Run for the Animals in June, keep the momentum going for the Light the Torch 5K Night Run in October, and finish strong with the festive Reindeer Run in December.

What are the team options?
Teams of 4 or more will receive a $4.00 off discount per registrant. In order to receive the discount, a team must be created and entered when registering. Team members do not have to register at the same time. After the 4th person registers, the other 3 team members will receive a $4.00 refund.

What should I wear?
Anything to represent your favorite superhero! Whether it is a Spiderman suit, a DC or Marvel t-shirt, a Wonder Woman tiara, or Captain America’s shield, we welcome participation at any level.

When is Packet Pickup?
