Cream of Wheaton to Return in June
WHEATON, IL – The Wheaton Park District and Wheaton Chamber of Commerce are looking forward to bringing the Cream of Wheaton back to the community Thursday, June 2 through Sunday, June 5, 2022.
Wheaton Park District’s Cosley Zoo Maintains AZA Accreditation
Wheaton, IL –On November 4, after submitting a detailed application and undergoing a thorough inspection and rigorous assessment, the Wheaton Park District’s Cosley Zoo was granted a continuation of its Association of Zoos and Aquariums (AZA) accreditation, a gold standard designation for the best zoos and aquariums.
Wheaton Park District Commissioners Seek Applicants to Fill Board Vacancy Deadline October 13
Wheaton, IL -- The Wheaton Park District Board of Park Commissioners formally declared a board vacancy at the Park Board meeting on Wednesday, September 15. The Board vacancy was created by the recent resignation of Kevin Fahey who was re-elected to the park board in April 2021.
DuPage County Historical Museum Foundation Announces the Induction of Herbert J. Tweedie into the Illinois Golf Hall of Fame
Wheaton, IL – Due to Herbert J. Tweedie’s contribution to the growth of the game of golf in the Midwestern United States through his design of 21 golf courses, popularizing golf, and work at Spalding Company, Herbert J. Tweedie is one of six candidates selected for induction into the Illinois Golf Hall of Fame Class of 2021. The induction ceremony will be held Friday, October 1 at The Glen Club in Glenview, IL, home of the Hall of Fame.
Taste of Wheaton Committee Hopeful Fest Can Return in 2022
Wheaton, IL – The Wheaton Park District and Wheaton Chamber of Commerce have made the extremely difficult decision to cancel the Taste of Wheaton again in 2021, which was set to take place June 3-6. The downtown Wheaton Streetscape Project has begun on Liberty Street and eliminates the location of the carnival for the event in both 2021 and 2022. The carnival provided a significant source of revenue and helped to fund the entertainment, rental equipment, and City services required to safely host the event.
Cosley Zoo remains open during the winter months!
Cosley Zoo remains open seven days a week this winter and is committed to continuing to provide families with a fun, safe, socially-distanced outdoor experience.
DuPage County Historical Museum awarded $2,500 Grant to commemorate the 80th anniversary of the United States’ entry into World War II.
Wheaton, Ill. - The DuPage County Historical Museum received a $2,500 grant to fund an exhibit and associated programs to commemorate the 80th anniversary of the United States’ entry into World War II.
Wheaton Park District to Honor Veterans at Memorial Park
Wheaton, IL – While the COVID-19 pandemic has halted programming at the new bandshell, it will not stop the Wheaton Park District from honoring those for which the park was aptly named Memorial Park. The park district has teamed up with local Wheaton resident Rudy Keller, the man behind several local Field of Honor installations, to raise 50 flags daily from sunrise to dusk in Memorial Park from November 8-11 to celebrate Veterans Day.

Launching June 15, the Wheaton Park District Virtual Recreation Center will provide you with FREE online activities and resources in a variety of areas for residents of all ages.
Wheaton Park District Announces Event and Concert Cancellations through July 2020
Wheaton, Ill. – On April 7, 2020 Governor Pritzker strongly advised event organizers in the state of Illinois to cancel large summer events amid the COVID-19 crisis. Following CDC guidelines for large gatherings and the guidance of the Governor, the Wheaton Park District, along with event partners, have canceled all special events and concerts scheduled for May, June, and July. This includes: Go Fly A Kite (May 2), Native Plant Sale (May 30), Taste of Wheaton (June 4-7), Municipal Band Concerts (June 18, 25, July 2, 9, 16, 23, 30), Fish-O-Rama (June 20), Independence Day Fireworks and Parade (July 3-4), as well as the other special events regularly scheduled these months.
