RE: Proposed Land Swap of 4.5 acres between the Wheaton Park District and Community Unit School District #200 to facilitate the construction of a Preschool for children with disabilities

Dear Residents,

The Community Unit School District #200 Board of Education met last night (October 11, 2017) to review updated reports from their planners on the Graf and Jefferson location options for constructing a new early learning center to replace the existing Jefferson Preschool. At the meeting, the School Board was unified in their direction to the School Superintendent that the existing Jefferson School location should be pursued as the appropriate location solution and to discontinue discussions with the Park District about Graf Park. Therefore, this brings to a close consideration and discussion about using a portion of Graf Park for this purpose.

Please accept our gratitude for the emails, phone calls and in person visits on the matter. We are glad to have been able to take part in this dialogue. The Park Board and I are very happy about the high regard the community has for the Park District and the preservation of Green Spaces.

Please call or write if you wish to discuss this or any other Park Matter. Thank you.
