Wheaton, IL – Rock and rockabilly, patriotic musical salutes to the Grand Old Flag, and celebrations featuring libations, from craft brews to sparkling seltzers – all of these are coming to Memorial Park this summer, so get your plans made and your tickets purchased!

The fun gets going June 2 through June 5 when Cream of Wheaton – a community favorite – makes its long-awaited return. Memorial Park will be the downtown festival’s epicenter, offering food, entertainment, a business expo, an arts and crafts fair and more. The Cream will also have a carnival and other fun events and attractions. Musical entertainment at Cream of Wheaton is free and no tickets are required for those performances.

There also will be nine free Wheaton Municipal Band performances in June through August.

Soon after Cream of Wheaton, the Wheaton Park District’s second annual Summer Entertainment Series turns the park’s new bandshell into a talent showcase with several ticketed concerts.

The first concert of the season, set for June 24, will feature Gold Dust Dreams, a Fleetwood Mac tribute band, following a set by opening act Mulberry Street, a Billy Joel tribute band.

June 25 will feature country/rock band the Mickey Hatfield Trio and dance band HiFi Superstar.

July will bring audiences performances by the Shout Section Big Band, The Wayouts, a ‘60s garage rock band, and the ever-popular American English, a Beatles tribute band. Also in July, there will be shows from the Chicago Philharmonic Ensemble, Billy Elton and Radio Gaga and Sixteen Candles, an ‘80s pop band.

August concert highlights include the ARRA classic rock band; One of These Nights, an Eagles tribute band; and The PettyBreakers, a Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers tribute band.

August 6 will see the annual Wheaton Brew and Seltzer Fest take center stage in Memorial Park, a festival that includes food, drink and entertainment. This event is open to visitors age 21 and older and is a separately ticketed event.

The last weekend in August features three free Shakespeare in the Park performances of “A Midsummer Night’s Dream.”

September brings The Ron Burgundy’s yacht rock and party band Rod Tuffcurls and The Bench Press to the bandshell stage, followed by The Special Consensus bluegrass band and country band Bella Cain.

Tickets are $10 for most ticketed Summer Entertainment Series shows. No tickets are required for the free concerts on July 11, August 8, and September 17 and for the Shakespeare in the Park performances August 25 through August 27.

This year marks the second annual Summer Entertainment Series. When this new annual celebration was inaugurated in 2021, the new, renovated bandshell debuted as well. The bandshell is sponsored by First Trust.

The picturesque venue boasts an extended stage, built-in sound and excellent acoustics, flexible lighting that allows for enhanced security and better show-stopping performances, two dressing rooms and a backstage area for performers, an in-building concession area and indoor restrooms.

A variety of seating options are available, from covered stadium seating to open lawn seating. A private VIP seating area on the Lions Terrace is available for group rental.

Come on out and enjoy one of Wheaton’s best summertime entertainment values!
