Wheaton Park District Receives Awards from Illinois Parks and Recreation Association
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
Wheaton, IL— On January 23, 2015 the Illinois Park and Recreation Association (IPRA) honored several individuals for their commitment and excellent service to parks and recreation in Illinois. During the Illinois Association Park Districts/Illinois Parks and Recreation Association Soaring to New Heights Conference, IPRA recognized the Wheaton Park District for several awards.
First, Rob Sperl, Director of Planning at the Wheaton Park District, was given the IPRA Community Impact Award, presented to a current Illinois park and recreation professional who has made a significant impact in the community they serve through their involvement with local, community, non-profit, and business organization or government agencies.
Rob Sperl, Director of Planning for the Wheaton Park District (CPRP, CPSI, and CFM), is an example of an individual who is fully dedicated to parks and recreation and, more broadly, to the natural world around us. He has been heavily involved with many recent park district projects like the Sensory Garden Playground, the overpass near Graf Park and Monroe Middle School, and the synthetic turf field at the same location.
Secondly, Dan Wagner of Inland Real Estate Group of Companies, Inc. was recognized with the IPRA Advocacy Award. As a businessman, father, and friend, Mr. Wagner has been a supporter and advocate of the Wheaton Park District for many years. He says, “Wheaton Park District is committed to providing programs and services for 100% of the children in our city and beyond. Inclusion is a key factor for the growth of all children and the Wheaton Park District provides something for everyone. We are blessed to live in our community with such dynamic governmental leaders who go the extra mile to provide the ‘Best in Class’ services for all of our children.”
Lastly, the Wheaton Park District took home first place in the IPRA Agency Showcase Media Relations category for the publicity surrounding the Hope & History Award: In October 2014, the DuPage County Historical Museum Foundation hosted its inaugural Hope & History Award Dinner. The fundraiser recognized Daniel Goodwin of Inland Real Estate Group of Companies Inc. for his leadership and philanthropy. In an effort to further acknowledge the recipient and engage with new Museum supporters, the Wheaton Park District distributed a two-part press release (pre-event and post-event), which catalyzed a magazine article, video, and further press releases in 12 publications.
