Wheaton Park District Recognizes Comcast for Park Service

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

At the Wheaton Park District’s board meeting on May 21, The Wheaton Park District recognized Comcast for their service on Comcast Cares Day. Comcast employees enthusiastically volunteered their expertise and assistance with fence and building painting as well as landscape beautification projects around Northside Park and Northside Family Aquatic Center on April 26.

Comcast Cares is the company’s signature day of service and the nation’s largest single-day corporate volunteer effort. Over 50 Comcast and community volunteers assisted with the cleanup. In addition to the Wheaton Park District Northside Park project, thousands of local Comcast and NBCUniversal employees, along with their families and friends, participated in more than 80 community volunteer projects throughout central and northern Illinois, including the Chicago area, northwest Indiana and southwest Michigan.

For individuals and groups looking to be a part of a similar project, the Wheaton Park District’s next volunteer day will take place on Saturday, June 21 at the Play for All Sensory Garden site at Danada Park South. When completed, this park will offer play opportunities for children of all ability levels, including those on the sensory disorder spectrum. Volunteers are welcome to come by anytime between 9 and noon to help with the removal of invasive plants from the surrounding area. Visitors will have the opportunity to see the park construction status. Volunteers should bring gloves and eye protection if possible.
