Prairie Path Park Playground Survey
We want to hear from you!
The playground structure at Prairie Path Park (ages 5-12) was installed in 1996 and served the community well for 28 years. As the playground has aged, it is recommended to replace the playground equipment in 2025 to continue to meet today’s safety and accessibility standards. As the Wheaton Park District begins the process of replacing the playground, we would like your input in choosing the new equipment. If possible, please let your children help in choosing the new equipment too by completing this survey.
The feedback received will be provided to various playground equipment vendors when we request design proposals. Your privacy is important to us; the contact information shared with us will not be shared with any outside agencies.
Please complete the following survey by April 11, 2025.
Your input is valuable to us.

In-Person Meeting on September 5 & Online Survey
The District invites people with disabilities and their family members to share their preferences and priorities regarding accessibility.
The Wheaton Park District is completing a Transition Plan for existing parks and facilities, as required by the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA). “We have made many accessibility improvements in parks and facilities, and it is important to the District that our parks and facilities are usable by people of all abilities,” said Rob Sperl, Director of Parks and Planning. The Park District has retained The W-T Group, LLC (WTG) Accessibility Practice to help complete this ADA requirement.
One of the ADA Transition Plan requirements is to seek public feedback on access priorities and preferences. This helps the District better understand what is important to the community. Two meetings will occur on Thursday, September 5th, 2024, in the Rathje Room (#214) at the Wheaton Park District Community Center, 1777 S. Blanchard St., Wheaton. The first meeting is at 1:00 p.m. and the second will be held at 6:00 p.m. Both meetings will last 60 to 90 minutes.
John McGovern of the WTG Accessibility Practice will review the ADA requirements for existing parks and facilities, discuss some factors other park districts and recreation departments have considered in setting priorities, and share some images of what the WTG access audit teams saw at Wheaton Park District sites. Then, importantly, the audience shares information about their access priorities, helping to shape the transition plan.
Please RSVP by reaching Brian Morrow at 630-510-4975 or [email protected].
A sign language interpreter will be available at the meeting.
In addition to the two in-person meetings, a brief Online Survey will be used to collect feedback regarding the access priorities and preferences of District parks and facilities users. The survey link is available below.
